I was waiting with blog update for some good news - but those will be delayed so I guess I will do another boring status update.

New Makaron version not ready yet. I know, I promised a release some time ago but there is little point in fixing bugs in what is essentially a broken design.
The test versions released so far were only supposed to tell me what works and what does not. Now that I know more about what I really want and how, I will need to re-write some parts of the emulator. This takes time and is often boring since I have to break things first and make them work again...

In the meantime I've run some tests on my new NAOMI2 box. Suffice to say I can dump cart games now without having to desolder anything, and that also includes the secure FLASH which stores the serial number. This method has not yet been extensively tested (only one game dumped) so hold the champagne :)

Its true that has been a long time since we have news from you but, Hey! you must have things to do in your life. As for the dump method you discovered, will be enough to break the security on the carts?

That's the idea :)

That is a good news but .... what happened with the BIOS checksum?

That's still an issue unfortunately. I'm using alternative method for now - I need to be sure this works as intended first.

hi dr emulator (madmax) here
i'd just like to say good luck with it
and agree that it's pointless releasing something that's broken
just do your best kiddo we are all waiting and looking each week
for a new update on your briliant work
and i for one would like to thank you for your efforts
in trying to crack that machine i understand theirs
alot of painstaking work that goes into making an emulator
that some people just think fall out of the sky
not a day goes by when someone else asks for advice on an emulator
only for me to have to tell them they'll have to wait
for said problem to be fixed
anyway cheers for now and good luck ;)

Yeahh! still waiting makaron!

I'm wishing here, start a project. My friend gave me two dreamcast joypads. i was wondering to connect it to the pc via usb. Searching in google i found an adapter to plug ps2, dreamcast and gamecube pads (all in 1) to usb. Maybe if i can buy it, i will analyze it and search for a way to modify it and use a real vmu with the save and rumble pack function. then i can post a tutorial to build your own. I'm student in an electronic school and learning programation. Mmmmmm dangerous... i hope i dont go crazy. of course, i will need to do a kind of plugin or something

sorry for bad english

Maple protocol used in Dreamcast devices isn't very simple. It's also a serial protocol, but not very fast (only up to 2Mbps) so it's possible to emulate it in software using MCU like AVR. Good luck!

Just like to say well done for all teh hard wprk you are putting into this emulator and enjoying what the current test versions already released can do.
I wish i had the knowledge of doing emulators but i suck at programming :(
Anyway bud keep up the good work and just like to say a big thanks.
For anyone intrested this only going on the model2 emulator but for light gun games if you get a mouse input working then the lcd topgun will be able to be used for lightgun games as it can act as a mouse to thats how i play hotd on that emulator or at least i did till i got vista :(
