I finally figured out what prevented SQ remapping from working on NAOMI games - it's no longer necessary to set MMU=1 and use full address translation.

Deunan is possible make a tutorial how to configure 2 players in makaron DC ? , i read the other post but the remap of por adress for a normal user is simple impossible.

Just 2 players? It's easy then, even with default configuration:
1) Set "PADcfg = 1" in Makaron.ini
2) Run Makaron, configure the controller for player 1, close Makaron
3) Copy MakaronPAD.ini to another folder
4) Run Makaron again, configure controller for player 2, close it
5) Set "PADcfg = 0"

Now you need to merge the configuration files from steps (2) and (4):

6) Edit MakaronPAD.ini and replace "PortA" with "PortB"
7) From the copy made in step (3) extract the line with "PortA" and paste it next to the new "PortB" line, then copy-paste the configuration section as well.

In the end you should have both ports assigned with different GUIDs, and the file should look like this:


[Urzadzenia]
PortA = {some_GUID_here}
PortB = {another_GUID_here}

[{some_GUID_here}]
... config for player 1

[{another_GUID_here}]
... config for player 2


And that's it! Make sure you use two different devices for player 1 and 2.

Thanks for the hard work on the emulator Deunan. With progress on the DC/NAOMI emulator going by fast, any chance you could post a compatibility list for DC games?

Well, the list is short. It says "all games work, unless proven otherwise" :)
Some games technically work but due to imperfect renderer are hard to actualy play. A few will crash or hang on bugs or nasty hardware tricks that are not emulated properly. Most problems come from having invalid/hacked FLASH image. I get tons of complains that certain games are not working and I have no problems whatsoever running them. But I do have FLASH images that were dumped form working Dreamcast consoles, and not touched by emulators.

Also, testing games before each release (even if only those that I know are broken or unstable) is very time consuming. I don't do that.

Hi, i tried running Makaron with SoA but i can't enter first dungeon (Pirate's Cave).
I tried to push all button but i can't enter it. The walkthrough said push A button when you went to Pirate's Cave but it shows detail instead.

I've been playing SoA a bit on T10/1 and never had a single problem. I've not used any walkthrough and I don't really remember that cave though... You sure it's the right place and the right time to enter? I do faintly remember that there should be a sign saying "press to land" when you get close enough to a dungeon you can visit.
This place looks like a "Discovery" site, that is a special place on map you get points for finding. But not a place that can be actually entered... Try flying a bit around, there should be a few places you can go to. If you can't get any of those to work then I guess it's a bug :(

Thanks. Yep, it should say press to land instead discovery. Actually, it's first island after i leave Alfonso's air bus.

Tremendous work. I was never terribly excited about DC emulation since it doesn't play originals and my DC still works, but seeing these arcade-exclusives running is really great.

Along those lines, I have to ask (and excuse my ignorance if this is a dumb question), do you think Hikaru games are a possibility? From what I understand it's basically a souped up NAOMI with an extra CPU and some new shading tricks, and none of the games were ever ported to home systems.

Possibility - yes, I guess. Getting it to actually work is another thing :)
I'm not too familiar with Hikaru HW but the way I understand it it's Dreamcast times two, with a custom 3D chip that nobody but SEGA knows much about. Phong shading? No current 3D card can do that, maybe it could be emulated via shaders (point normals as separate textures?). Kinda figures why it was dropped in favor of NAOMI2.

In short: Not going to happen anytime soon. If ever...

Hi I'm getting the following error :-

NAOMI: (-1005) in module HOLLY/MMAP: ZapisRej: STARTRENDER - HOLLY/PVR.RENDER.

I'm using Makaron T11.0, and this error occurs when starting Spikers Battle at the Insert Coin screen.
I'm aware that someone else has reported this issue, but I just wanted to know what causes this problem,(eg bug in problem, issue with Rom), and more importantly is there a way I can get past this error, by pressing a key (eg, Service menu) or some other clever way to side step this error before it is displayed and get into the game ?!!.
If this isnt possible, then will I be able to use a previous makaron version, which does not have/display this error.
Also, out of interest (Q to the author), just how does the author of Marakron get his pictures of Spikers Battle playing/working. Does he have a special working Makaron build or a tool to hack/get past the error ??!!

Thanks again to the author for this excellent emu and for this g8 forum.
Hope I can find a way to get playing this game asap, as this is the game i've been waiting to play for years.

This error is a debug break that's supposed to crash the emulator when it ecounters a specific situation - easy to notice that way. It will be removed in next version.
You can try running your PC faster (or slower) and hope this will reduce the chance of the game code hitting that trigger condition.

My own builds are always ahead of what I release :)

Hi guys,
I seen to be getting a fatal error when starting Makaron T11.1 (after the NAOMI splash screen), which is :-

(-1103) in module NAOMI: Obsluz - AICA.Obsluz -> AICA.Obsluzkanaly -> AICA.UzupelnijBufor/Lock

Can someone please lmk what this error means, as I have never had a problem with the other Makaron versions, and am wondering if a bug has been introduced into this version or whether it a makaron author compile problem, with a new C++ compile tool, etc.
Also is there any way I can get this makaron version to work, as it seems to be an issue with makaron starting/initialising with directX DirectSound. I've got the latest(?) directx version from October
(am wonderding if there is a November DX version),
or maybe there is a MFC or windows type of patch I need to install.
Please advise if this problem is known and encountered, and how to get arround it.

What system are you running (XP, Vista, 32/64-bit) and what sound card do you have?
This error shouldn't ever happen really... Do you get this in the Dreamcast version? Is the NAOMI opening animation playing with sound?

Thanks for replying dk, I'm running XP SP2 32bit and a normal SoundBlaster 16. I get NULLDC working A-ok and the other Makaron versions working Ok, even T11. But T11.1 gives this error. The sound on the NAOMI start screen is ok and i've just tried a different game (spikers Battle), but as soon as the Insert Coin screen come up this error message is shown.

Also Yes its happening on th DC makaron version of T11.1.
Crashes 1/2 way thru the DC logo start screen. Bizarre! :(

There is a part AICA of code that has changed since T10 and that is the only thing that comes up to my mind right now. I'm not really satisfied with how it works anyway, so I'll look for another solution. We'll see if it helps.

If I also have this problem with Spikers battle and I want to have a solution soon.
And I could emulate Spikers battle with DEMUL and I can say it's a very nice game but very difficult and if there is no way to lower the level of difficulty.
Hopefully some day be able to emulate Model3 and Spikeout power play, I got him on XBOX but it's not like I like most of the original arcade.

I'm one of those poor people who only have a single core sempron 2800+ 2.0Hz CPU. Therefore namoi is a little slow on games like slashout.
Is there any way to increase the speed of makaron. I recall DK, making a comment that there is some hidden tweaks to switch off the Anit-aliasing and other video fancies. Can someone (DK?) please advise what these tweaks are and how to apply them.

Some priority/Z-buffer bugs will always be there. It's not possible to fully emulate PVR2 behaviour using DX9 graphics hardware. Try F12 menu, the default settings are not always what people like best.
As for the being stuck problem - happened to me too, several times. Might be a bug in emulator or a game thing, hard to say. All times but one I managed to free myself by trying to move in various directions (not necessarily back). Once I had to reload an earlier save.

Hi I have the game Toy fighters, whick works (though quite buggy)mwith NullDC with the .lst format, but I want use it with Makaron, as I hear its a much better Naomi Emu.

Toy Fighter is NAOMI cart and Makaron only support GDs, so nothing you can do about it.

Actually there is a way, but I'm not telling. Not really rocket science though :)
See, cart-based games have - yet unemulated - protection devices and will not work correctly (or at all) on emulators. The way I see it the dumps that are available right now are incomplete.
Maybe I could figure someting out but for that I'd need to get my hands on several different carts. And let's face it, some of those would probably end up damaged :) No money or time for that right now.

hi deunan, when i run the naomi emu, and get the "SKYARENA" level, the emu crashes with "critical error (-1102)direct 3d" i tried switching to fullscreen, and with the 1.2 version but still the same problem
