I knew there was a good reason for not touching the GD-ROM code. But I did, and as it stands now it's pretty broken - I will need to redesign it quite a bit.
There are several major problems to solve, all tied to multithreading. Unfortunately I don't really know how to fix them. Or rather, I do, just haven't come up with an idea I feel like implementing. I'd rather spend some time thinking about it and do it right (well, mostly) than throw a ton of nasty patches in. I might actually have to pull out a drawing block, some pencils, and start designing it on paper first. This is a bit new to me, not being able to easily cover for all possible cases in my head. I guess that's MT for you...

I hope to release something in the first week of April. If the new GD code is not ready by then, I'll revert to the old one. I want to see if vibration works for other people too. By the way, I haven't done a single thing during holidays :) I blame Knurek. And Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call he told me about. But mostly Knurek.

Hey, Makaron currently does things that no other DC emulator can do. It's because you take the time to sit down and do things right. We'll wait as long as we need to for the next release.

Me be humble, you be amazing! :)

I know it`s a bit strange request, but please give a short tutorial how to run it. It keeps searching for a CD bios and however I try it it just does not run. I`ve tried 100 times and nothing happens.
16th-Jun-2008 01:57 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial
There's a ReadMe.txt file in the package. Please read it :)
You could also try out frontend for Makaron called mkfro. Just google it and you should find a download source.

Here is the error 1:1:

(-1012) in module Makaron: WinMain - Makaron.Przygotuj->MMAP.WczytajROM(ROM\BIOS_EU.bin)
16th-Jun-2008 05:39 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial
That means you're missing "BIOS_EU.bin" file in the ROM folder. Makaron wants it because you've set it to emulate European region console.
Other emulator use different naming scheme, that is "dc_bios.bin" for BIOS and "dc_flash.bin" for FLASH. With Makaron however can choose the region so you need the BIOS file to be named "BIOS_??.bin" where ?? is EU for Europe, USA for America and JP for Asia. Same goes for FLASH file. It's all in the ReadMe.

Yes, Dk Nute, I am doing it but it keeps with that error. Is there any specific pattern in renaming??? I`ve tried tons of different bios with BIOS_USA.bin; EU and JP.... I`ve read the readme but it keeps giving me this error???
16th-Jun-2008 08:57 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial
What are exectly your system specs, and what Windows are you using? What language?
Secondly, how are you starting Makaron - via a shortcut or directly by running the EXE file?

To make things more simple put Makaron in it's own folder on C:\ - for example C:\Makaron
There you will have ROM folder, so the file need to be placed in C:\Makaron\ROM\BIOS_EU.bin
Open C:\Makaron\ and click on Makaron.exe to run it. If this doesn't work then either your copy of Makaron is broken or there is something really wrong with your user settings or privileges.

I am using Win XP 32bit version SP2. The language is default - En. My system specs: intel c2duo e8400 wolfdale, 6GB Ram, 2xHDD 80GB/320GB. Dual OS boot. Windows XP/ubuntu 8.04.
I`ll try to put makaron directly in the C:\Makaron later and I`ll report. Thanx. :)

P.S. Are you somewhere in the Balkans? Your language is like slavyanian. I am from Bulgaria :)

I`ve tried to change the DIR but there was no difference. It still gives me this error. Can you specify the bios values? The BIOS is about 2MB and the Flash is about 128 Kb. I`ve renamed them with capital letters BIOS_EU.bin and FLASH_EU.bin but it still searches for BIOS_EU.bin

OK. It worked. The size of the BIOS is 2MB and the FLASH is 128k. Here is another error:
(-1005)in module Makaron: WinMain - Makaron-Uruchom-> Holly. uruchom-> Holly/Mapple.uruchom->Holly/Mapple.UruchomWtyczki->(Makaron controller).uruchom
17th-Jun-2008 05:44 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial
Yup, I'm Polish.
Now you need to configure your gamepad. Change "PADcfg = 0" to 1 and run Makaron. Again, consult the ReadMe for that.
If it still throws an error after that, it's probably because your pad does not support rumble functions I'm using. Disable it in config window, and modify Maple.ini, so instead of

#Adres0x02 = MakaronVMU.dll
Adres0x02 = MakaronPAD.dll

it reads

Adres0x02 = MakaronVMU.dll
#Adres0x02 = MakaronPAD.dll

Yes, I`ve remapped the x360 pad. It recognizes it. Fine. So I`ll try to modify the Maple file later and I`ll report.

I`ve made the changes:

2008-06-18 16:12:40 > Makaron: (-1006) in module Makaron: WinMain - Makaron.Przygotuj -> HOLLY.Przygotuj -> HOLLY/Maple.Przygotuj -> HOLLY/Maple.WczytajKonfiguracje

Here is the report again :(
18th-Jun-2008 01:27 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial
You've messed up the Maple.ini config file now. My guess would be you put 3 instead of # in there.
Go over it again using a simple text editor (like Notepad).

I`ve fixed it, I got another:

2008-06-18 16:30:22 > Makaron: (-1102) in module Makaron: WinMain - HOLLY.PokazObraz/Present: E_FAIL (An undetermined error occurred)

So here is the GDI booting problem. How can I boot? I have a simple DIR E:\CDI in that dir there are my DC images. I`ve tried to add F:\ my virtual CD rom but it does not work. So I opened the GDI.ini...
Well I modified the GDI.ini:

image = E:\CDI\TDCFinal2.cdi

It gives me a black screen after I set the time/date and try to PLAY the game. I`ve tried with another few games... No difference
18th-Jun-2008 02:09 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial

Here is what happens:
1. Change the DIR in GDI.ini
2. Start Makaron
3. Asking me to enter time and date
4. Asking me to enter time and date again?!
5. Menu --> Play
6. A black screen???
If you want a screen shot - tell me where to send it.
18th-Jun-2008 03:17 pm (UTC) - Re: Please a step-by step tutorial
This is because your FLASH file is corrupted. And again, this is explained in the ReadMe.
Look, Makaron is still in testing phase. If you can't get it to run then maybe you should wait for the finished version. And stick to another emulator for the time being.

Hmm... Well it`s good to know that the FLASH is bad. So I`ll just look for another. But finally I was able to make it work! Thanks for the patience and for the help! I am rooting for your success with the Makaron. I am sure it will be a great app to all of the console fans. So cheers! And keep up the good work :)

P.S. Are you going to translate it? I like the Polish version :) It`s slavyanian language after all :)

the read me is bad write. He is not instinctive. Why you don't explain step by step the method for use makaron.
For exemple:
step 1: download and dezipe makaron
step 2 : search and download bios for dreamcast
step 3: rename bios with " good name" and place bios in" good folder)
step 4: place your isos "here " or "here"
step 5: how load and do work isos with makaron
etc ,etc...
it's that we want all. A tuto simple but efficient.
you understand or what??????????
